cron & cron jobs

Updated on 3 November 2026

cron is a command used to schedule tasks that must run periodically, for example once a day, Monday to Friday at 3:00 pm.

Cron jobs let you automate certain commands or scripts on your server to carry out repetitive tasks automatically.

For example, you could create a cron job to delete temporary files every week, to prevent your disk space from being filled by those files.

This is a system process that runs in the background. cron can be handled easily through the cPanel interface, section Cron Jobs.
