How to read the result

A test only speaks for the route measured: run it again from where your users are.

    Start the download

    From your browser, or with the curl command shown, which downloads the file without keeping it.

    Note the throughput

    curl prints the average speed at the end; your browser shows it while downloading.

    Try again at another time

    One run says nothing about a peak hour: compare morning and evening, and from another connection if you have one.

Frequently asked questions

What does this test measure?

The download throughput between our network and the connection you start it from. It depends on your Internet access as much as on ours: a low figure over a busy Wi-Fi says nothing about our servers.

Can I test latency?

Yes: the ping command to the file's host name gives the round-trip time. Run it from your users' machine or network.

Do these files contain anything?

No, they are filler files with no content. You can delete them after the test; the curl command shown doesn't even save them.

Will my future server get the same throughput?

The test shows the route, not one given server. Each offer's characteristics are on its sheet; for a specific bandwidth or traffic need, ask us for a quote.
