SPF and DomainKeys configuration for your domain

Updated on 3 November 2026

What are SPF and DomainKeys? SPF and DomainKeys are special mail server configurations that let you identify yourself as the legitimate sender of an e-mail.

Why add SPF/DomainKeys to my domain? By configuring SPF/DomainKeys on your domain, you considerably reduce the chance that the e-mails you send are treated as unwanted mail (also called spam or junk mail).

Large e-mail providers such as Hotmail, Yahoo! and Gmail all use SPF as one of the criteria for deciding whether an e-mail is legitimate or not.

How do I add an SPF/DomainKeys configuration to my domain?

With cPanel, adding SPF/DomainKeys is simple:

  1. Sign in to cPanel
  2. Click Email Authentication in the E-mail Management Tools section
  3. In the DomainKeys section, click Enable
  4. In the SPF section, click Enable
  5. Allow a few hours before your configuration is active (propagation time across the Internet). If you send e-mails from other servers (if, for example, you use a third-party service to send mailing lists from your domain), you must add the mail server's addresses (host, IP address) in the Advanced Settings section of the Email Authentication page of your cPanel. Ask your e-mail service provider for details.
